Teaching and Learning at Red Lane
At Red Lane we ensure that all pupils, including those with SEND, learn the same curriculum content as their peers as they have the same curriculum entitlement for a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum as all pupils. We enable pupils to do this by making reasonable adjustments and adaptations to the delivery of our curriculum through adaptive teaching.
Our teachers have a strong knowledge of the subjects they teach. This is supported by the use of expert teachers in PE, Music and Spanish. They check pupil’s understanding and adapt teaching so that all pupils can access the curriculum and make good progress. This is a consequence of extensive professional learning (both internal and external) and can be seen in lessons through: live marking, pupil responses to marking, pre and post teaching, pre and post unit assessment and regular retrieval practice.
You can find out more about how we use adaptive teaching to support our pupils in our Adaptive Teaching Handbook where our subject coordinators have considered how staff can specifically adapt teaching within their subject.
