Our Performance

Each year pupils in school complete a number of statutory assessments. These assessments look slightly different in each year group.

  • In Reception these assessments are carried by the teacher through a variety of tasks and observations of the children in class. These assessments cover all areas of learning with EYFS.

  • In Year 1 pupils complete the phonic screen in order to determine whether they have met the expected standard of phonic ability by the end of Year 1.
  • In Year 2, any pupils who did not reach the expected standard in phonics will re-take the assessment.  In addition, teacher assessment is used to determine whether or not pupils have reached or exceeded the expected standard for the end of Key Stage 1. Up until 2023, this teacher assessment was informed by SATs tests which were carried out in school. These tests are no longer statutory.
  • In Year 4, pupils undertake the Multiplication check to assess their recall of multiplication facts.
  • In Year 6, pupils complete SATs tests in Reading, Maths and Grammar and Spelling. The tests are more formal and are marked externally. Teacher assessment is also carried out in Writing.

Below you will find information about our performance over recent years.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, testing did not take place in 2020 and so no performance tables are available for this time.

At Red Lane Primary School, the number of disadvantaged pupils is well above the national average. The majority of pupils enter EYFS will language, knowledge and behaviours below the age expected level. Pupils make strong progress and achieve well. Disadvantaged pupils achieve very well in comparison with disadvantaged pupils nationally.

You can find an overview of the outcomes for our disadvantaged pupils below.Outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
