Our School
Remote Education
Attendance is essential for pupils to get the most out of their school experience, including for their attainment, wellbeing, and wider life chances. At Red Lane we recognise that there is no equal alternative to attendance at school but there are circumstances where remote education may be appropriate. It is used as a last resort when the alternative would be no education. In such cases, remote education can have the benefit of allowing absent pupils to keep on track with their education and stay connected to their teachers and peers.
School will consider remote education in the following cases:
-
school closures or restrictions on attendance, where school access for pupils is restricted
-
individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able to learn
The need for remote education in emergency situations/ closures will be communicated to parents via the existing communication channels. This will provide information about how to access remote learning as information surrounding safeguarding and other matters. In addition to these communication channels the remote education and virtual classroom element of the school website will be activated.
Safeguarding
Keeping children safe online is essential. The guidance on safeguarding and remote education provides information on what schools should do to protect pupils online during any period of remote education. The guidance includes a collection of resources which includes support for:
- safe remote education
- virtual lessons
- live streaming
- information to share with parents and carers to support them in keeping their children safe online
At Red Lane Primary School we use all guidance to support the offer of remote education and our safeguarding and child protection policies reflect:
- the potential need for remote online education provision
- the fact that pupils might be learning both online and in the classroom
