School improvement priorities

At Red Lane we provide a caring learning environment with high standards and expectations, where pupils will grow into a responsible, independent learners. In order that our pupils achieve the very best, we are committed to continuous school improvement. This journey is focused on continually enhancing the quality of teaching, learning and overall pupil experience. At our school, we are committed to fostering high academic outcomes, promoting well-being and creating a supportive environment where every pupil can thrive. By investing in professional development, adopting innovative teaching methods and engaging with the wider community, we ensure our pupils are equipped with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in an ever-evolving world. As part of this ongoing journey, we believe firmly in close co-operation between home and school, where parents share our aspirations and expectations for their children.

Whilst some priorities may change, our commitment to reading is always a priority as we know that reading is the key to learning and life success. Therefore we work hard so that all children learn to read in out school. You can see an overview of this year's priorities below.

As an important aspect of our school improvement, we ask parents regularly through our parent forum how the school can be even better. Some key areas of strength identified in July 2024 were:

  • Extremely happy with all aspects of school
  • Good communication
  • Keeping parents informed of upcoming events – lots of information sent out
  • School has nurtured, developed and implemented an amazing range of skills and knowledge to help throughout primary, while making my child feel safe and happy and giving him a real thirst for learning.
  • I am so happy with how year 5 has gone.
  • Keep doing an amazing job
  • Learning with everything – maths, reading, writing
  • My child has always made more progress each year and continues to do so. At expected level or above – that’s brilliant, due to staff
  • All-inclusive school
  • Year 6 has been amazing. My child has been supported by her teacher. She is a smart kid and her teacher has pushed her to exceed higher targets. Year 6 has also had loads to do, which has kept it fun and engaging.
  • Everything I can think of – no improvements needed.
  • My child enjoyed his years at school and has learnt well from all staff who have had him. He’s done really well with his lessons and enjoyed football, and represented his school.
  • My child has struggled all the way through primary. Red Lane could not have been more understanding and helpful.
