Our School

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

At Red Lane, meeting the needs of all our children is a priority. We are ambitious for our children to achieve their very best. Our high expectations for work and behaviour are shared across our school community. We have an inclusive approach to meeting the needs of children with Special Educational Needs/ Disability and are proud to be an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence.

As part of our Inclusion team we have 3 SEND coordinators (SENCo) in school, these are Mrs Gregory, Mrs Healey and Mrs Beswick who work as part of the school Inclusion team. We also have an Inclusion and SEND local governor, Mrs M Tuckley.

You can access resources and support through our dedicated SEN page under the Learning and Development tab.

If you have any questions related to SEND please do not hesitate to contact the SENCos via the school office on 01204 333580 or office@red-lane.bolton.sch.uk

Bolton Council has published a Local Offer. This details all the services available within the area to support a family or child with SEND. This includes health, social and care information as well as education and is a great place to go for information. The local offer can be accessed here.

Centre of Excellence

Red Lane Primary is proud to be an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence. This award recognises the extensive support offered to all pupils and in particular those with additional needs. Our work supports pupils to successful access a broad and balanced curriculum.

Our most recent re-assessment noted:

  • 'Red Lane Primary School continues to be a Centre of Excellence for inclusion, placing inclusive values at the heart of its offer to pupils and their families. ‘Believe-Achieve- Succeed’ is the simple message; a positive mantra which illustrates the value placed on every individual in the community and an ambitious resolve that only the best is enough.'

  • 'Leaders are adaptable and innovative. They gather information diligently and analyse it carefully to inform planning, which is highly focused and impactful. They have responded to the many challenges faced by the school community and show great resolve to find the best solutions, however difficult the challenge is. There are many examples of this readily available to see.'
  • 'The innovative enrichment curriculum provides opportunities for pupils to learn a wide range of skills in different contexts. One group could be observed looking after the
nurture garden, while others were engaged with specialist coaches. Local partners and community groups have been well utilised within this part of the curriculum in particular.'

  • Pupils feel a strong attachment to their school, describing themselves to me as ‘Red Laners.’

  • 'It is clear that inclusive values are important to everyone in the school community'
